Create@School 1.3.0

Create@School represents an advanced iteration of the Pocket Code application, specifically tailored for the educational sector.

Educational institutions are encouraged to register at this link to obtain complimentary accounts for their educators and students.

The primary aim of the Create@School application is to leverage concepts from game design, as well as project and collaborative learning, particularly within designated curriculum areas.

This application is developed as part of the Horizon 2020 European initiative “No One Left Behind” (NOLB).

To enhance usability, accessibility, and functionality while reducing the complexity of the Catrobat programming language, multiple enhancements have been incorporated in this version. These include:

• Accessibility features available in the settings menu
• Predefined profiles designed to facilitate access for students with special needs
• Predefined templates that assist students in creating their first programs, even without prior experience; currently, four templates are available, with an additional nine templates planned for release in early 2017:

  • Puzzle template
  • Quiz template

A login is required to access all features of the app. Five participating schools in the NOLB project have been provided with special credentials for their students. This is essential as all actions performed within the app (e.g., creating a new program, utilizing a template, generating an object) are tracked and associated with individual usernames (in anonymized form). This tracking enables the identification of specific learning outcomes and parameters for educators. Plans are underway to develop dashboards from this data to assist teachers in evaluating their students’ projects.
